introduction

Kaoru Hakaze wakes up in an unfamiliar room under the surface of the sea.
He tries to recall where he is, who he is; how he got here. After all, hardly anyone is supposed to know about the Kingdom of the Ocean, humans even less so. I shouldn't be here, Kaoru thinks.
But the reality still remains, and the mystery still lies out of his reach...
An intern in the beaten-down RYUSEITAI, Chiaki Morisawa hears of a request to reclaim a lost artifact from the very bottom of the ocean.
Something strikes a chord in the back of his mind. He feels like there's something more he's supposed to know about the object they're supposed to retrieve.
The "Eternity Sphere", which is supposed to bring eternal protection to the party it favours. Its walls have been strengthened by years buried in the sea, along with the resolve of the spirit that dwells within it.
Why does Chiaki feel like he's seen the Sphere before...?

UNDEAD
An independent group of magic-users that take on requests for other people. They're picky and selective on what they choose, and have a rather odd friendship. Still, their skill level is high and they have a good reputation for getting tasks done quickly.
They're a team under the Yumenosaki guild, but aren't usually affiliated with its name. It seems that one of their members has been missing for a while...?
RYUSEITAI
A group affiliated with the Yumenosaki guild. They're well known for taking requests and performing acts "in the name of justice", but in reality, they're in shambles and take the requests that offer the most money.
Chiaki Morisawa is an intern there, but when he joined, the unit was already falling apart. Members seem to be doing whatever they want, and it doesn't look like they'll last for much longer.

Kaoru Hakaze:
Went missing during a failed mission with UNDEAD. After searching for months but to no avail, he was presumed dead by the Council of Magic.
During his time in UNDEAD, he was a high-talent water mage who was well-known for his charismatic personality. It seems that he has lost his memories, and was taken in by the Kingdom of the Ocean...
Kanata Shinkai:
The extremely powereful sea spirit that resides in the Eternity Sphere, and who watches over the Kingdom of the Ocean. His magic maintains a barrier around the kingdom that protects it from public eye, preventing people from stumbling upon it.
He used to live on land, and made a long-forgotten promise to someone dear to him. Perhaps one day, he'll be able to fulfil it...
Souma Kanzaki:
For generations, the Kanzaki family has been one of the only few humans trusted by the Kingdom of the Ocean. They share close ties, and Souma is currently employed as a knight in the Royal Castle.
He uses an enchantment by the Kingdom in order to breathe underwater. He's tasked to guard the room containing the Eternity Sphere, and has made friends with the spirit within.

Rei Sakuma:
The fearsome leader of UNDEAD. One of the famed "Five Oddballs" that had participated in a war years ago. Uses dark magic that has been passed down through his family for generations.
He founded the unit after his recovery from the aftermath of the war. Places the blame Kaoru's disappearance on himself, for reasons that have not been unveiled yet.
Chiaki Morisawa:
Intern at RYUSEITAI. Being in the unit was his dream, but his expectations didn't match up to reality. He wants to be a real hero by helping everyone in need.
Eventually, he ends up as the mentor to Midori, Tetora, and Shinobu, needing their help to go to the Kingdom of the Ocean.
Natsume Sakasaki:
Leader of Switch, a traveling group of fortune-tellers. They were previously under Yumenosaki, but left to enjoy more freedom.
Mentor to Sora Harukawa. He is well-known for his accurate fortune-telling. Even more so, he's part of the Five Oddballs and the one that created the Eternity Sphere...

Led by Eichi Tenshouin. They run the Yumenosaki guild. After Trickstar's rebellion, the prestigious guild was able to regain an air of freshness to it.
Ra*bits:
A group of three rabbit spirits that dwell in the forest, along with the magical doll Nazuna Nito, who looks after them.
Trickstar:
After causing the world-renowned rebellion in Yumenosaki and upsetting the iron grip of the Tenshouin family, they decided to continue on as vigilantes.
The Five Oddballs:
Five people with inhuman ability and blood. They scattered after the war that took place years ago. Their whereabouts are...?

kingdom of the ocean
A sprawling underwater kingdom that hardly any human knows about. It is ran by the royal family, who oversees the safety of the kingdom, along with the Spirit of the Eternity Sphere. Their sea-dwellers enjoy a high standard of life, with each home being connected to the Royal Kingdom.
Though they do not know who the human Kaoru is, they have opted to let him stay due to a seal in his eye that they found familiar.
